Description of Project:
- New 85,000 square foot jail utilizing precast architectural wall systems
- Holds as many as 340 inmates, up from an average of 250
- Juvenile unit completely separate from the rest of the jail
- Includes current jail technology
- New medical unit cells (absent from the old jail)
- New laundry facility designed so that inmate labor can be used to do the in-house laundry as well as offsite locations
- Office area consolidating the sheriff department functions (formerly spread among three locations)
- Project expected to take about 24 months to complete
- When inmates are relocated into new jail, the old jail will be demolished to provide parking and storm drainage
